July 2023
Happy summer, everyone! While most LEAs have officially been on Summer Break for some time, we know that most administrators don’t get to take time for themselves until July. We hope you all have a relaxing and refreshing summer break before returning to the “grind” of a new school year. Speaking of the new school year, the beginning of school is just on the horizon! Have you met with your EPPs recently? Remember, EPPs are not just here to help you spend down your money—we're also here to be thought partners, suggest best practices, shed light on current research, and to assist you in all of the excellent work that is being done at your sites.
Happy beginning of the new State fiscal year! As a reminder, federal programs do not close out on June 30th as State Grants do, but there are some important dates to be aware of. Final RFRs for the 2022-2023 school year are due on July 21st—any expenditures that were made on or before June 30th, 2023, will need to be included in these RFRs (even if purchases were made with federal funding) so that LEAs don’t have to submit a stale claim to the Governor’s Finance Office (GFO), which can significantly delay the reimbursement process. The last day to submit Funding Application Revisions for federal funding is August 1st, with a final obligation date by September 30th and a final RFR date of October 21st. The end of the federal, 27-month cycle is September 30th—please get with your EPP for an update on your current spend-down and help create a plan for any carryover you may have. As a reminder, LEAs must submit a carryover plan this year—the official template will be forthcoming.
We want to give a special shout-out to everyone who was a part of submitting all of your applications for funding for FY24! We know this was a heavy lift, and we are so grateful for the hard work and thoughtful planning that went into the process. You should already be approved and ready to move forward for those LEAs that submitted their funding applications on time. For those funding applications that are still trickling in, we are getting to them in the order in which they were received, and you should have responses from us soon.
We wish you all successful planning and implementation of best practices for student achievement in the 2023-2024 school year, and we hope to see you at our next Title I Office Hours on July 26, 2023, at 9:00 am. Please sign up for invitations to these important events in this newsletter's “Office Hours” Section.
