Bi-Partisan Safer Communities Stronger Connections Grant

Summary:

On March 1, 2023, the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) released the Notice of Funding Opportunity for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) Stronger Connections Competitive Grant Program. The BSCA is an important first step toward reducing the risk of gun violence in schools and communities by establishing safer and healthier learning environments and supporting learning opportunities for high-need Local Education Agencies. In this session, NDE will outline the major objectives of this new funding opportunity and share NDE goals and priorities for the use of these funds.

Bio: Greg Serverance

The education industry is Greg’s second career. Greg comes from Colorado where for over two decades he served as the Public Works & Transportation Director for two large, front-range Colorado cities and counties. From 2016-2018, before accepting the Title IV-A program position with NDE, Greg worked in the field of renewable energy in Africa based in Kenya.  

Since 2019, Greg has served NDE and the LEAs as the Title IV-A program lead and Education Program Professional.
