Breakout 3a: Supporting Academic English Language Development for Multilingual Learners

Summary:

During this interactive session, you will engage with some of the professional learning tasks developed for the Nevada Department of Education’s English Language Development Standards Framework Initiative. You will experience the four big ideas underpinning the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework CAN DO Philosophy (Assets-Based, Simultaneous Content and Language Development, Collaboration of Stakeholders, and Functional Approach to Language) through the lens of Nevada ML students. You will learn about and dive into one of the NV ELD Standards Frameworks to generate ways to support these diverse learners. Finally, you will receive updates on current and future professional learning opportunities.
